Write for us

We welcome pitches from writers and illustrators who can make a nature question vivid, clear, and useful to a general reader. Proposals should bring a distinct angle and respect the difference between an observed detail and a confident explanation.

What we want to read

Pitch an evergreen piece about wildlife, plants, landscapes, weather, or the craft of noticing nature. Strong ideas have a defined subject, a fresh route into it, and a reader takeaway that does not depend on statistics, first-hand testing, or specialist authority. We are especially interested in specific questions that open onto a broader understanding without becoming a list of loosely connected facts.

What to include

Use the Contact page to send a working title, a short summary of the central idea, the intended reader, and a few sentences about how the piece would unfold. Mention relevant sources or visual material you expect to use, and flag any uncertainty or location-specific element. Please send a proposal rather than a finished article unless we have agreed otherwise.

The shape of a good pitch

A clear pitch makes its subject and boundaries easy to picture. It avoids unsupported claims, invented encounters, and advice that calls for a professional or local authority to verify. We look for precise language, an independent point of view, and an explanation that lets readers notice more without overstating what a single observation can show.
